**Please note: While I am a licensed practitioner certified by various states boards to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, the couples work I do does not constitute as “therapy” and therefore not reimbursed by insurance companies. If we discover over the course of our work together, that there is a pre-existing mental health diagnosis hindering our progress, such as an active addiction, severe mental illness, or crisis situation, I will refer you to a therapist who will treat the diagnosis, and teach both partners how to effectively support each other through the treatment process. This type of couples therapy is reimbursed by insurance companies but is limited to treatment of the diagnosis only and cannot provide the experience that most couples seek in couples’ therapy, such as establishing trust, connection, attunement, healthy communication, etc as insurance companies do not consider the lack of these a mental health disorder.
Do You Accept Insurance?
I no longer am able to provide in-network benefits as I am no longer contracted with any of the insurance companies; However, I can provide a Superbill for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows for it. The decision to no longer accept insurance was not made lightly, however over the past few years, it has become increasingly noticeable that insurance companies strongly push their contracted providers towards short-term, surface level therapy for clients, requiring a mental health diagnosis and lengthy documentation to justify that diagnosis at each session. I prefer to not pathologize or categorize my clients based on criteria defined by insurance companies. Instead, I like to offer each person a set of unique tools that will allow them to access and process core emotions, deepen their nervous system regulation, and, if needed, renegotiate traumatic memories that are limiting their capacity to enjoy life to the fullest. I meet each person where they are and guide them at a pace that feels right for them, not at a pace dictated by an insurance company. Another unappealing and often undisclosed feature of Insurance companies is that they reserve the right to audit your records for up to 10 years to verify that the therapists work was worth their involvement, if at any time they feel the work was not justified, they will demand reimbursement from the therapist for what they have paid for your care. For a solo practitioner like me, these audits are not only devastating for my practice, but they also invade the important client/clinician privilege for privacy. I prefer to offer my clients a treatment plan that utilizes a variety of effective interventions insurance companies cannot comprehend, as well as a course of treatment that can be flexible and unique to the individual and/or relationship.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy:
$280 for 90 minutes
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy is not covered by insurance
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy: The cost for an initial evaluation by Jennifer Montjoy, MSN, PhD, NP is $400, she will also visit with you halfway through your treatment program (after session 3). If you are considered appropriate for K-AP, you will be given the choice of completing three 2-hour sessions in 2 weeks, or two 2-hour sessions in 3 weeks, for a total of 6 sessions. Each session is $350, creating a total cost of $2560. Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is not covered by insurance as it is considered “off-label” and not reimbursed by most insurance providers.
